Product Design & Engineering

A vague idea or a clear vision. A quick sketch. An insight, discovery or invention. Perhaps a competitive challenge. A problem... At Panchromos my associates and I will work with you to turn these into new or improved products. Into solutions and answers. Into plastic, metal, glass and silicon in your hands. And ultimately into profit.

We're most commonly labelled as "product development consultants". But we're very hands-on and create and collaborate more then we consult. We design, engineer, shape, build and test. Probe, search, sift and find. Construct, calculate, sketch and tinker. Define, plan, manage and implement projects. We're knowledgeable yet remain constantly curious. Experienced yet professionally naïve enough to come up with fresh ideas. We're not primarily inventors, yet we're very inventive.

With and for our clients we work on projects ranging from exploring fuzzy ideas to production engineering and CE-marking. From making a proof-of-concept model to pilot batch assembly. Brainstorming to supplier selection. For a few days to over a year. Mixing precision mechanics, electronics and optics with great design and a keen eye for costs.

I started Panchromos because I felt project-based virtual teams could offer start-ups, spin-outs and SMEs greater flexibility and lower overheads then the established consultancies. So what sets us apart?

My personal commitment: I personally lead every project. Only take on projects where I can make a significant personal contribution - I don't act as a middleman. And I personally guarantee that you will be excited about our work - after all I need you as much as you need me.

A team to suit the project, not the other way around: For most projects I put together a project team from my network of associates - the right person for the right (part of the) job. Together we provide the mix of skills and industry experience your project needs. Covering a wide range of technical disciplines including industrial design, applied physics, optics, mechanical & electronic engineering, embedded software development, regulatory affairs and manufacturing. And you can be sure these professionals are as highly motivated as I am.

Design for Sales: I love technology. I love design. But I've spent years in sales and marketing, and realise that technology and style are only means to an end: Our design choices are driven by their potential impact on your business case.

Flexibility: Especially for early stage technology companies priorities and constraints can change quickly. Our low overheads and virtual team approach allow us to be as flexible as you need us to be.

Let's talk to see if we can create great products together.

Design recycling

In the course of our projects we've designed and build a number of generic parts, modules, tools and instruments that we think could be of use to others. We've got drawings, schematics and layouts available for download. You can also buy some of our products.

If you've got something along similar lines that could be of interest to us, let us know too!
